On Friday, Sept 12, we left Raleigh for Rome, Italy. Due to flight delays, we arrived in Rome on Saturday evening (only 11 hours late) and joined our son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Ceil, and her mother, Vi, at a hotel in Rome for a night of rest and adjusting to the 6-hour jet lag. The next morning, Sept 14, we went to the city of Civitavecchia where we boarded Holland-America's beautiful cruise ship, the M.S. Noordam, our home on the Mediterranean Sea for the next 10 days. We had a nice room that shared a veranda with our next door neighbors, Ken & Ceil. The ship left port at about 5:00pm and we were on our way.
